This will help determine if their performance was a contributing factor towards the incident if they were or were not on drugs or alcohol at that time. This helps you as a company determine if you need to pay for any damages and/or injuries to persons or if your employee does; based on the results. This is why it is important to have a policy implemented; it covers your company from any lawsuits. Some federal agencies do have specific time limits on when this must get completed.
